PHYSICIAN ASSISTED SUICIDE (PAS) BILL IS BACK AGAIN!
The Maryland General Assembly has once again introduced a bill to approve physician assisted suicide in Maryland. This is the eighth attempt to pass this bill. The bill is titled End of Life Option Act, SB 926/HB1328. A Senate hearing is scheduled for March 5, 2025. Physician Assisted Suicide is opposed by physicians and disability rights advocates. PAS is wrong for many reasons:
-Violates medical ethics to save lives and do no harm
-Makes people feel like a burden
-Lacks accountability for lethal, addictive drugs
-Sends the message that suicide is okay
-Leaves vulnerable people at risk
There will be information on Physician Assisted Suicide at all the church entrances. Additional information is available at The Dignity Mandate,
thedignitymandate.org, Maryland Catholic Conference,
mdcatholic.org and Maryland Against Physician Assisted Suicide,
stopassistedsuicidemd.org. Please take the time to educate yourselves about this bill so we can let our legislators know that we oppose this legislation. T
o oppose this bill, go to Maryland RIght to Life-mdrtl.org - Click on Advocacy, then click on Take Action, and click on Stop SB926/HB1328. All you need to do is fill in your name and address and hit the "Submit" button.
